About Me
Hi! My name is Lola Oliverio. I am a recent graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Media and Communication Studies, with a concentration in rhetoric. I am currently soaking up all post-grad life has to offer, but previously, I was the lifestyle desk editor at The Daily Tar Heel, where I also previously served as a city and state senior writer and summer city and state editor.Throughout my time at UNC, I worked at WXYC 89.3 FM, UNC's student-run freeform radio station, where I held a regular radio show for three years. I also contributed to their blog and interviewed numerous artists of varying genres.
Over the past few years, I have interned for North Carolina Health News, NPR-affiliated WUNC 91.5 and Triangle Media Partners. I attended UNC Charlotte for my first year of college, where I worked as the assistant editor for the opinion section of Niner Times, Charlotte's student-run newspaper.
I am originally from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area and found my passion for journalism through writing for my high school newspaper. I love writing about social issues, public health, local politics and music! In my free time, I play guitar and love to attend concerts and do crossword puzzles.
